With the increasing complexity of the global food system, the food industry is moving to third party certification of their food protection management systems. New approaches and investments are being considered.
Through learning partnerships between industry and government, definitions of competencies will be consistently used across the food sector. This means that the food industry, government, academic institutions, private service providers and third-party certification bodies will all speak the same vernacular and have a common understanding and expectation of food protection learning.
Safe Food Canada will work with smaller businesses and help them by providing tools that can be utilized to meet the new requirements in food protection practices. Learn more about the Safe Food for Canadians Act.
